Minimalist
I just love a minimalist shot, but what is a minimalist shot you might ask? For me this means having the subject isolated and surrounded by negative space.
Sometimes you find yourself up above the mist and fog, and in the morning light that can be amazing!
The iconic and slowly crumbling old pier at Brighton makes for a wonderful minimalist subject.
Pre-dawn to me has some of the best conditions and light on a good day. Here I was in Paignton and capturing this harbour marker. A long exposure shot that has its reality adjusted a little by the flashing light on the marker.
This well know location looks amazing at hightide, the addition of the bird was just amazing.
Such a grey day, provide the calm and haze I so desired for this capture from Teignmouth in Devon.
Wonderful light on a very stormy day at Burnham on Sea, Somerset, allowed me to capture the moment just as I wanted to
Some wonderful finger like sunken trees branches.
Wonderful pre dawn light again at use here, the start of the day was just shining under the clouds and added this lovely colour palette.
A lone boat on a Devon reservoir proved to be a pleasing subject in the thick fog.
You might see a bit of a theme in my minimalist shots, and yes that is things that are in the sea. I will catch them isolated if i can, but on this occasion the distant coastline in the background complimented the image as a whole.
I loved these channel markers at Porlock Weir, they made a great minimalist subject.
