Astrophotography
My take on astropotograhy is to make sure I have a strong and well exposed foreground to match the majestic night sky.
If there are any aspiring astrophotographers looking at this, then this image is a perfect example of what you can do even in the summer and not so dark nights. The conditions of course made this a special image for me, and one of my personal faves. Stonehenge looking amazing.
The North Devon coast has some interesting sights that’s for sure, so here I have used one of them in this created image.
The wonderful milky way arches over the abandoned WW2 control tower.
The night sky is just so large…. Here you have a small coastguard station being dwarfed by what is beyond.
Here I take you to an image that took some planning, and of course some luck. I knew I wanted the walkway to align with the Milky Way, but I also needed the moon to have set, the skies to be clear, and to be able to get here when that happened. Fortunately I was.
The wonderful Day Marker near Dartmouth makes for a great photo subject in most conditions, but for me it really stood out under the night sky.
I love nothing more than being out alone in the dark… It’s when I do my best work some might say!
Ok so the red light coming from the side of Portland Bill lighthouse is not a las(z)er beam, bt it is a cool dynamic in this scene.
A shot that I have been trying to get for ages, and at last I managed to capture it. Start Point, Devon.
Beer in Dorset has some great opportunities for images, and it did not let me down on this occasion.
This location in Cornwall is great to capture, especially on a clear night.
When the conditions are right, the detail you can get is amazing.
The Devon coast is wonderfully dark, this rock pool made for an amazing composition.
The Devon coast is a great place to capture the stars, as should be obvious now in my images, the majority of the time the foreground is more important to me than the night sky. Here the boat was just perfect for that.
